Supper Guests

I got a call at work today from Alfred's mama and she said she was bringing supper tonight! Did she ever bring supper!!! She brought chicken & dumplings, turnip greens, potato salad, cornbread and a lemon pie! I threw in a meatloaf for good measure! Holy Cow! Dennis & Leah came too so we all sat around eating and visiting. We were even done in time to watch "Dancing With The Stars!"

Thanksgiving is next week and all Alfred's family is coming here for dinner. It will be fun but I miss my mama and her good dressing. Everyone says no one makes it like their own mama and I guess that's the way it's supposed to be. I am a very good cook but I just can't seem to get the knack for dressing......no matter what I do it just turns into a bigger pan of cornbread! I made it one year and you could have used it for a battering ram! Ugh! Alfred kinda mentioned that he would get his mama to make the dressing next week! I can read his mind and what he was reeeeeeally saying was, "Sheila, you know I love you but your dressing stinks and I want my mama's!" Yeesssiree.......I can read him like a book!

It seems like 2008 just started a few weeks ago and it's all but gone! Time is going by so quickly and we are always in this 'hurry-up' mode. We don't take the time to enjoy life and before you know it you look up and you're 50 years old! Where did it go? Have I made a difference in anyone's life? Have I been a good example? What will I do from here on out? Every day that we have is given to us by God and we can do with it whatever we choose. Did you know you can show God's love by something as simple as a smile? Why not choose this day to Serve the Lord? Go out, give someone a big smile and make them wonder what you've been up to! HA! God bless ya! OH, and by the way......I fry catfish better'n Alfred's mama!!! SO THERE!!!! ;)-
